TREES GROW

Trying to find new places with Fall color is a fun a challenge. This year I ended up on the Cascade Lakes highway one afternoon looking for deciduous trees, there aren’t too many in this region.

I come around the corner and bam, here were some massive trees with bright yellows! Memories came flooding in, these were tiny when I last remembered, now they’re huge! I moved to Bend over 30 years ago and guess what? The trees have grown, lol.

I pulled out my gear; drone and tripod camera set up. There was wind on the water, so getting a glassy shot wasn’t going to happen. It was beautiful out nonetheless with a dusting of snow on Mt. Bachelor, pleasant temps and sunny. I came home, edited the photos and video, but knew I needed to go back with calm conditions.

The next evening I was back at what you are looking at now. I love this photo for many reasons, but mainly, the memories of the time that has passed and how everything has an opportunity to grow, evolve and be it’s best beautiful self no matter what holds it back, in this case, wind storms, freezing temps, fire and ungodly amounts of snow over the last 30 years.
