SKIER OVER TUMALO FALLS

TUMALOFALLSSKIER18x12P

Yes, you see a skier jumping over Tumalo Falls. One of my favorite parts of the job is to design and build snow features, wherever, whenever there is snow. I've built countless features and spent hundreds of days in cities in Europe to Canada to Omaha Nebraska to my hometown of Bend Oregon. There are a lot of limiting politics to working in cities; police, property owners, etc...it's exciting but can put a damper on how and when you can work if someone isn't happy about what you're doing. The other side of the spectrum is building in the backcountry, where the only limit is Mother Nature and human capabilities. This photo is neither the backcountry nor a city, it's an iconic tourist spot 14 miles outside of where I live. I've wanted to build a jump over the 97' waterfall ever since I laid eyes on it many years before this actually happened. There is no max coefficient for snow, so you have to know what you are doing from years of trial and error...there was zero margin for error on this design. Jonah Elston was the first of three athletes to hit the jump and he landed perfectly. I hugged a Filmer I barely knew after Jonah's successful attempt. I called Jonah's parents to quell their nervous fears that success was achieved and all was good. He ended up hitting the jump six times in total. I'm grateful I never have to set this up again.  If you ever wanted an image to captivate any viewer of any age, this is it.

The image you see is great for office spaces, restaurants, health care, any retail space with a wall. My clients who purchase photos with people in them all say the same thing, "having someone in the photo allows the viewer to imagine its them, being right there, transporting their being from wherever they are to what they see in the image."
