EASTERN OREGON

Seven years had gone by since I visited this remote area of Oregon; the last time was magical and I’m not quite sure why I hadn’t gone back until now...I thought about the area often, it’s massiveness, colorful rock, solitude, playful bouldering, meditative energy and the sheer beauty in every direction.

The Spring brings a green tint to the landscape as the limited grass grows for a short period of time. The dry, late spring and summer heat takes over and browns out the area. I visited April 11th and experienced upper 50s for temps, partly sunny skies, slight humidity, subsiding wind, an adult jungle gym of rocks to climb, upland birds, and the green tint of grass. My friend Justin had never been and he was in awe the entire time, saying things like, “I can’t believe this place is real. I am so glad I put work on hold and took the chance to go with you."

I too am glad I took a chance to revisit this area, it was a perfect time to experience the beauty and do some personal healing.
