TODD LAKE SUNRISE

I asked my friend if he wanted to see a sunrise with me? He said yes. Normally I don’t ask friends to see Summer sunrises because it involves waking up at around 3am, something I don’t mind doing, but others do.

I picked Justin up at 3:30am, he was drinking coffee (something I don’t do, yet) and had a smile...good vibes. We drove to the trailhead, put our headlamps on and began the short walk to this lake. Even though it was dark, I could tell there were a few clouds, which is good, they bring the color. Dawn began and I saw there were little, yellow wildflowers everywhere...awesome! I chose this day because of the forecast and lack of wind in it; a glassy lake makes all the difference for images like this.

The sun began to rise to the east and the color in the clouds started to develop. I said to my friend, “this is already awesome and is going to get even better!” He was laying down on a walk bridge, looking up and I knew he was enjoying this morning as much as I was...I put a lot of pressure on myself to provide a great experience for my friends when we head outside, especially when the wake up call is 3am.

Fantastic morning with Mt. Bachelor in background and one my friend later texted me, ‘Thanks for the morning, that was special.'
