50 DEGREES

The water in this river comes straight out of the ground and along its way is fed by dozens of springs. The water is cold, 50 degrees maximum, even in the Summer. I’m glad the water is cold, otherwise this beautiful area would be a zoo with people, floating, paddleboarding and everything that comes with that. The river is located in Central Oregon. I think some things are better left virtually untouched.

I shot this a couple years ago, but this time I tried something different, a long exposure. I had never tried a long exposure with the drone, fearing the camera wouldn’t be able to hold still, rendering the shot blurry. I wanted the river to be ‘soft’ but everything else crisp. I tried the 1-second exposure and it worked! Love this photo...
