IDAHO FISHING

I started backpacking in Idaho a few years ago and it has grabbed a piece of my heart. Here is an image from a recent trip with a windless sunrise over one of the majestic peaks and alpine lakes we backpacked to.

I never bring a fishing pole/rod when I backpack and I regret it most times when there is a lake or creek...this trip was no exception. As soon as we arrived at our destination the fish were jumping and I regretted not having a pole/rod. We camped and enjoyed the beauty, yet the entire time I wished I was able to fish. The following afternoon another backpacker showed up and said, “I’m surprised anyone else is out here.” He had a fishing pole. We quickly became friends as he set up camp nearby. His camp was set up and he walked up to us and asked if we wanted to go fishing with him? We said yes, ventured up to a lake above us where we saw tons of fish the day before and began to fish. We caught countless beautiful cut throat trout, almost every cast was a bite.  Adding fishing to an already otherworldly area made this trip one of the most memorable in recent times.

I love the power of this photo!
